Counter tops
Counter tops are the work surface in the kitchen.  They range from utilitarian to the focal point of the kitchen.  There are 3 main price points with Butcher Block and Laminate at the entry level, Corian and the Acrylics at the mid-level, and Stone products at the premium level.

Butcher Block

  • standard sizes & styles
  • traditionally maple or cherry, but available in other species
  • available in continuous grain, random length, & end grain construction

Laminate

  • available in many colors and finishes
  • can be pre-formed or custom with several edge options
  • most often used with “drop-in” sinks, but can be fabricated for “undermount” option

Acrylic

  • most commonly known as Corian 1/2″ solid material with color through material
  • has seamless appearance
  • option for integral sink and covered splash; surface renewable

Granite

  • natural stone
  • varies greatly from consistent to wild variations within the slab
  • a porous material and needs to be sealed 1 to 2 times per year
  • heat & scratch resistant
  • may require visible seams
  • can have drop-in or undermount sinks

Quartz

  • man-made alternative to granite, 93% quartz with an acrylic binder
  • does not need to be sealed
  • heat & scratch resistant
  • may require visible seams
  • can have drop-in or undermount sinks
